Dear Nashville,
I just want to take a moment to say thank you. Thank you for allowing me the space to be myself. Thank you for the amazing culture. Most importantly, thank you for the community…the people. In my opinion, it is with the people, in which you’ll find the true essence of who Nashville really is. That is why when I say the name of Nashville, more than anything else, community is what I’m speaking of.
From teaching elementary school music to becoming a professor at Tennessee State University, you were there for me. From playing my trumpet with the squad on 2nd Ave to performing with Brassville and the Fisk Jubilee Singers at the Ryman Auditorium, you were there for me. You’ve allowed me to grow and have grown alongside me the entire way. For these reasons, I will always be intentional about holding your name to the highest regard wherever I go. Actually, our band, the TSU Aristocrat of Bands, just finished telling the world about how special you are in Pasadena, California. I know you saw it because you told us how proud we made you. Just know that means the world to me.
Well, I could go on all day about how much I appreciate you, but I think you got the message. I can’t imagine where I’d be without you. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next. Thanks again for everything.
With Love,
Larry
